Description

Journalist Ron Suskind tells the story of raising and connecting with his autistic son, Owen. As a young child, Owen memorizes Disney animated films and uses the emotions and the relationships inside the films to understand and express his own feelings. Moving from school to school and therapist to therapist in upper-middle-class Washington, D.C., Owen comes to identify with the sidekicks in the films – the characters who cannot do everything that the heroes do, but who provide the heroes with the love and support that they need to achieve their own destinies.
