This guidebook contains research meant to help young people who have emotional and behavioral difficulties with practical information about services and interventions to help them make the transition into functioning as adults. The first section presents research about youth with emotional and behavioral disorders, the services that are available to them during the time of transition into adulthood, and the conflicts that often arise between them. The second section presents evidence-based treatment strategies to help young people through various aspects of transitioning into adulthood, including secondary and postsecondary education, vocational rehabilitation, community housing, community life skills, and clinical and substance abuse treatment. The third section is dedicated to capturing the perspectives of young people and their parents, and the fourth section is a guide to the various service-providing agencies and how to find funding for treatment. To ensure that this resource is respectful and culturally competent, each chapter is co-written by a young adult.
