The Hurt Yourself Less Workbook is a non-judgmental workbook filled with exercises to help readers understand and possibly gain some control over their own self-harm behaviors. Created in response to widespread judgment and stigma within the British medical community against people who self-harm, The Hurt Yourself Less Workbook takes a compassionate approach, stressing that readers are not bad people just because they self-harm, encouraging readers to take the workbook's exercises at their own pace, and frequently reminding readers to do nice things for themselves after difficult exercises. The exercises take the form of challenging questions that guide readers through discovering the feelings that surround their self-harm. Also included are sections about first aid and self-care, managing other people’s responses to readers’ self-harm, and self-harm and visual and auditory hallucinations.

Feel free to complete the exercises in this book on a separate sheet of paper; please leave the workbook clean for the next person to use it!
